For patient safety, patients exceeding the posted weight restrictions will not be done at London X-Ray Associates. The weight limit for all Ultrasound exams is 350 lbs.

Overview

If your doctor has ordered a renal (kidney) or aortic exam, they have selected a specific part of an upper abdominal ultrasound to be performed.
Your symptoms or history are specific to these areas and, therefore, fewer pictures are required than a complete abdominal ultrasound. The examination will be similar to an abdominal ultrasound but takes less time.

How do I prepare for the test?

You must have nothing to eat or drink for at least 4 hours prior to the procedure.

Combination Examinations

Your doctor may order more than one ultrasound examination for the same day.

Renal (kidney) and pelvic ultrasounds are often ordered in combination for urinary problems or symptoms.

How do I prepare for the test?

You must have nothing to eat 4 hours prior to the procedure and also finish drinking 5 glasses of water (40 ounces) at least 1? hours prior to the procedure. Your bladder must be full. Do not empty your bladder.

Are childcare (baby sitting) services available while I have my exam?

No childcare services are available. Please prearrange the following:
Adult supervision in the waiting room must be provided at all times for children while you, the caregiver, are having your exam completed. London X-Ray Associates staff will not be able to provide any childcare needs. We ask that all children be supervised by an adult, other than the patient, while at London X-Ray Associates.
Thank you.
